Dr. Dongshan Wu and Dr. Xiang Qiu from our research group attended the 17th International Symposium on Biocatalysis and Biotransformations (BIOTRANS 2025), held in Switzerland. The symposium is a leading international platform for scientists working in the field of biocatalysis and biotransformation. Their participation reflects the group’s continued engagement with the global research community and our commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific developments in the field. The event also provided valuable opportunities for academic exchange and potential future collaborations.
From May 14th to 17th, 2025, the research group of Professor Xiaoguang Lei hosted the Natural Product Symposium, a high-level academic event focused on cutting-edge research in the field of natural products.
The symposium featured three distinguished international scholars: Professor Sarah O'Connor, Professor Jinke Weng, and Professor Minoru Ueda, who delivered keynote lectures highlighting their latest breakthroughs and perspectives in natural product biosynthesis and bioengineering.
In addition, newly appointed principal investigators—Dr. Xudong Qu, Dr. Benke Hong, and Dr. Lei Gao—shared exciting updates on their independent research programs, showcasing the innovative contributions of the next generation of scientific leaders.
The symposium also included a student presentation session, where outstanding Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers from both the Lei Lab and the O'Connor Lab presented their ongoing work. Their talks reflected the high caliber of training and research being conducted in both groups.
The event provided a vibrant platform for academic exchange, fostered new collaborations, and highlighted the dynamic progress being made in the natural product community.
APPW 2025, a physiology conference held in partnership with anatomical and pharmacological societies, took place at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan, from March 17th to 19th. Prof. Lei and Dr. Sun participated in the event, delivering keynote speeches and presenting academic posters on their latest research findings. Their contributions stimulated engaging discussions among international peers, fostering further academic collaboration in the field.
The Xplorer Symposia series conference titled "Multidisciplinary Intersection of Microbiome, Chemistry, Plant, and Medicine" was successfully held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from February 19 to 22. The event was chaired by Prof. Lei.
